Our Founding Pillars

Authenticity

This means more to us than just high quality costumes. We view authenticity as, not only, character believability, but also proper casting, creating an immersive experience for everyone we meet, and most importantly-genuine and passionate performers.

Our Fairy Godmother spends hours each week on character design, new training, storylines, immersive experiences, and new ways for our characters to teach your little ones.

When you and your little one meet our characters, you will truly feel that your favorite character has come to life.

Affordability

Our goal is to provide the most magical experience possible at a rate that is reasonable for all of the hard working families across the kingdom.

Still, we know that sometimes we may not be in a price range that works for you- that’s why we work side by side with local companies and organizations to provide FREE or discounted character experiences at community events through our Fairytales for All initiative.

The most important thing Once Upon a Fairytale is being able to create affordable access to our magic so every child can meet their favorite character.

Accessibility

Our Fairy Godmother feels that operating a company that provides a safe space for performers of all backgrounds and abilities was as important as it was necessary.

This notion is not only for our cast members, but for the children who don't always see themselves in the media they are exposed to in their daily lives.

We feel everyone deserves to feel the magic that’s why we are registered as an Autism Friendly Business through FEAT Louisville and make magic for those who need it most through our Fairytales for All initiative

The Story of The Castle

I’m Erynn Weatherford, the Owner and Director of  Once Upon A Fairytale! Ever since I was little, I’ve been captivated by the magic of stories—whether through books, theater, or the joy of imaginative play. That love for storytelling led me to pursue a career in early childhood education, where I’ve seen firsthand how powerful imagination can be in shaping young minds.

Beyond teaching, I’ve always had a passion for the arts and for many of these beloved characters. In 2023, I looked around and realized there was a deep lack of accessibility for both children and performers in the industry of character performing. I dreamed of being able to help bring magic to everyone regardless of their circumstances. This simple dream quickly grew into Once Upon A Fairytale, a company built on the values of affordability, authenticity, and accessibility. The core of OUAF is the belief every child deserves to see themselves in the stories they love and to create moments of joy and wonder that stay with little ones long after the magic fades-which is why our Fairytale for All initiative and inclusive casting are at the heart of everything we do. I can’t wait to bring our magic to you!
